The Government of North Macedonia will continue subsidizing Wizz Air after the flights resume

-

The Government of North Macedonia will continue with the financial support for Wiz Air for establishing new flights from both Macedonian airports as soon as the low budget airline resumes the flights in accordance with the conditions and statutes planned by the Agreement for the period between 2019 and 2022, informs the Ministry of Transport and Communications of North Macedonia.

“We want to stress that the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Wizz Air company will observe the Agreement for Financial Support and that the establishment of regular lines as well the introduction of new lines will depend on the airline’s business policies,” said this ministry.

Otherwise, the Agreement is still active, but the Government has suspended it temporarily because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the inactivity of Macedonian airports, and a large number of canceled flights. The specialized portal “Ex-Yu Aviation” published yesterday that Wizz Air is in a process of suspending 50 flights from the former Yugoslavian countries, most of them from the Skopje airport.
