With the formulation “Riots in Skopje: Macedonians are causing riots because of the arrival of the Turkish President Erdogan”, the Serbian portal “Dnevno.rs” unsuccessfully tried to attract more readers by using a bombastic title for their article.

It was placed on a normal article that was actually a reprinted news article by the Serbian news agency Beta about the visit of the Ambassador of Turkey in Macedonia, Tulin Erkal Kara to Ohrid, i.e. the reconstructed building at Ali Pasha’s mosque, when she also annnounced that the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit the country and will attend the inauguration ceremony for the reconstructed object.

And while the agency’s news simply laysthe facts without any dramatizations, also mentioning the reactions by the citizens of Ohrid regarding the reconstruction of the 15th-century mosque, including the reactions from the “Sovest” association about the building of the 25 meters high minaret in the central city area.

And on top of that article, out of all journalistic standards and basic logic, Dnevno.rs has come up with a title that only serves to gather more readers, publishes disinformation and is instigating religious and national intolerance.

At the same time, there weren’t any public or any other type of protests due to Erdogan’s arrival let alone riots in Skopje because of the mosque in Ohrid.
