“The law proposed by VMRO-DPMNE for government advertising which they proposed before the working groups, is a brutal attack on the independence of the media. With that kind of law, its an intrusion into the mission, funding and editorial policy of the media. We urge that SDSM, DUI, DPA, the EU and the US to categorically reject such a proposal from VMRO-DPMNE and to commit to the ideas of mediator Peter Vanhoutte systemic solution that creates conditions for a free media. ”
This was announced at a press conference, by President of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia Naser Selmani, in response to the proposals submitted by VMRO-DPMNE concerning the media.
According to Mr Selmani their proposal kills the meaning of the existence of the media in a democratic society to accurately inform, on time, to critically observe reality and to encourage debate on issues within public interest.
