Assembly adopts Law on higher education

After hours of debate, with 67 votes “for” and nine “against”, MPs of the Assembly adopted amendments to the Law on higher education which provides for the introduction of a state exam and the selection criteria in the titles is being changed.

Minister of Education Abdilakim Ademi said that the Government accepts the amendment that envisages implementation of pilot state exam.

MP Pavle Trajanov of the Democratic Alliance said the entire procedure lacked a comprehensive and thorough analysis, as well as expert discussions. He also said that, in his opinion, the solutions for quality education should be offered by universities. Trajanov feels that everybody is responsible when adopting such laws, no matter who voted for and who voted against or did not vote, referring to the opposition’s boycott of the work of the Assembly.

“Student plenum” reacted to the adoption of amendments and reactions immediately appeared on social networks as well.
