Mayor of Struga Zijadin Sela on Saturday will try to take DPA from current party leader Menduh Thaci. Congress which will be held in Tetovo, according to Sela, is the regular sixth party congress, on which is expected him to be elected as leader of DPA. Sela is the only mayor of DPA in major cities.
Thaci’s supporters did not want to comment, but said that the sixth congress was already held in October last year, and that it cannot be a congress on Saturday because Sela doesn’t have the stamps from the party, nor the support of the membership.
– The stamps are not the party. Political party is much more than stamps, more than one leader. The membership is the party. I responsibly claim that more than 80 percent of the membership is with us. Legitimacy is determined by the congress membership, not the stamp. We will address with a letter to Thaci to return the stamps. If he doesn’t, there will be litigation. If we lose, there will be a slight change in the name of the party. We will add something – says Sela.
After the congress on Saturday, Sela announces that he will begin talks with the party of Rufi Osmani.
