Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that opening the files of the former secret service Sigurimi is not for electoral purposes, but because it is an obligation for all those who suffered during the communist regime.
Rama said that the process for the project “Opening of Sigurimi’s records” began immediately after his coming to power in Albania.
“The truth is that this project will not impact the economy of the country, but, as such, it performs a thorough distancing of Albania from its past,” said Rama.
The leader of the Left added that opening the files in the country creates a new perspective in building a democratic society.
