Several hundred people, under the slogan “Every our child is Tamara”, gathered at the Youth Park in Veles today to express anger and to demand accountability from health authorities for the death of nine-year-old Tamara Dimovska, who had been suffering from scoliosis and died waiting for approval of the seventh operation.
– Today we gathered again because of a human error! We gathered to be supportive in sorrow! It cannot be harder! Today, here in Veles, we peacefully say that we know who is to blame for the death of our Tamara! We want to send a message that there is no greater cost than child’s life and to ask: Which Tamara’s next? – recommended the organizers of the protest.
Addressing the citizens, organizers said this was evidence of gross immorality of the system and the lack of care for the common man, for the children.
– When the system kills a child, what remains as comfort? No comfort! There is only anger, sadness and disbelief. And, mistrust to Minister of Health, to Health Insurance Fund, to the medical commission, to the Public Prosecution, to the judiciary … From here, publicly and loudly, we demand all those who contributed to the premature death of our Tamara to be punished – said in the address.
Organizers of the protest, along with Tamara’s mother, sought accountability from the Minister of Health Nikola Todorov, HIF directors Maja Parnardzieva-Zmejkova and Xhemali Mehazi.
– Minister, resign to restore the hope that the system will work. Have in mind that you give statements and now confirm that you require, but Nikola, the effect is extinguished child’s life, what more should happen for you to resign? We demand accountability from the Director of Health Insurance Fund Maja Parnardzieva-Zmejkovska, who justified that “the Fund did everything in the legal possibility”! We also demand accountability from Jovica Andovski, Deputy Minister and the second director, Xhemali Mehazi – said organizers.
Tamara’s mother said that she won’t stop demanding responsibility and told the media that have not followed the case to become involved in order to avoid such cases in future.
