The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, has called upon the Government to reveal and explain the content within the Agreement for good neighborly relations with Bulgaria before it is signed. As the press release issued by the president’s cabinet states, the lack of transparency has caused negative commentaries and worriedness among the general public that have to be surpassed by publishing the text of the Agreement before it is signed.
“Ivanov stresses that the national and state interests of the Republic of Macedonia should always have the highest priority and that any kind of inter-state agreement must not be damaging Macedonian national interests” states the press release.
Yesterday, the Macedonian president had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov, during which he was informed about the latest draft- version of the Agreement of friendship and good neighborly relations with the Republic of Bulgaria.
