Preparations to implement the referendum in Centar began

Andrej Zhernovski, Mayor of the Municipality of Centar, sent a request for implementation of a referendum for City Trade Center today to the State and Municipal Election Commission (Centar). The application reads that the SEC and the MEC should prepare and conduct the referendum in accordance with legislation. The Municipality says they will provide all necessary technical, spatial and other conditions.

For details on the implementation of the referendum, Mayor Zhernovski tomorrow and the next day will meet with President of the SEC Nikola Rilkoski and Director of the Citizens’ Association MOST Darko Aleksov.
The referendum will be conducted in the Municipality of Centar on 26th of April. Citizens will have to answer the following question: “Are you for keeping the authentic look of the facade of GTC – Skopje?”
Voting will be carried out by circling the word “for” or “against”.
The decision of the referendum shall be considered adopted if a positive majority of citizens went to the polls, if more than half of the total number of people enrolled on the voter list in the Municipality of Centar voted. The decision made in a referendum is final.
If the referendum decides to keep the authentic look of GTC, the Council of the Municipality of Centar shall, within 60 days of the publication of the results of the referendum, decide on determining the appearance of the facade of GTC.
