Huge amount of plastic bottles, paper, reeds and other waste, was picked up by the teams of PE “Ohridski komunalec” in the past two days.
It is estimated that Ohrid Lake threw out at least 30 cubic meters of waste from its depths along the town quay, near the port next to the Dutch park.
The action involved backhoe, two loading waste trucks, three utility workers who manually cleaning the waste from the lake and 10 sweepers.
Environmentalists, citizens and the general public welcomed the action, appealing it to be practiced after every storm with rain and wind.
After this ugly image, environmentalists called on citizens to be careful when they are throwing their waste.
