Number of deaths from COVID-19 in North Macedonia surpassed 6 500

The latest COVID-19 statistics in North Macedonia tell about 491 new diagnosed cases from 3.747 tests performed. As a result of the disease, 16 people died, informs the Ministry of Health in its latest regular press release. Nevertheless, there are 6 more deceased persons reported, who died last week. With this, the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country, surpassed 6 500 people.

Most of the new diagnosed cases, as expected, are from Skopje – 232, then 41 from Kumanovo, Shtip – 26, Veles – 20, and in the rest of the cities the numbers of the new cases are significantly lower.

Also, there are 416 recoveries reported, most of them from Skopje – 214, followed with 70 from Strumica, 23 from Kumanovo, etc.

Eight of the 16 reported deceased patients were from Skopje, three from Kumanovo and one each from of Strumica, Tetovo, Ohrid, Shtip and Berovo. All died at hospital, aged between 45 to 88 years.

The Ministry of Health says that according to the register of the deceased persons with a diagnosis COVID-19, 6 more deaths were reported yesterday, but the dates of those deaths are in the period from the 14th to the 20th of September.

“These deceased people are: 2 each from Skopje and Shtip, and one each from Struga and Kichevo. The deceased were aged 54-83 years, and 3 have died in hospital, while 3 the other people died at home,“ says the press release from the Health Ministry. Though, there are no other details in regards to the belated reporting of these six deaths.

So far in the country, 1 261 880 COVID-19 tests were done. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 188 113 cases of coronavirus, 169 116 recoveries and 6 511 deaths were registered. The number of active case is 12 486.
