In the forthcoming days Stevo Pendarovski, the president of North Macedonia, will take part in the United Nations General Assembly in New York. On the 23rd of September, Pendarovski will address the attendees at the assembly’s 76th session.
The theme of this session is “Building resilience through hope – to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainability, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of people, and revitalize the United Nations”
The president is scheduled to meet the UN’s General Secretary Antonio Guterres including heads of states and governments, participants at the General Assembly.
In New York, the president will be escorted by his wife, Elizabeta Gjorgievska. She will address the event dedicated to marking the 30th anniversary of the Global 16-day Campaign against gender-based violence. Gjorgievska will also give a lecture at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She will also visit the school for children with special needs Jesse J. Kaplan.
Apart from these events, President Pendarovski will also attend two other events in New York. The first is a Virtual Global Summit for the fight against COVID-19: End of the pandemic and recovery. The second event is the 20th High-Level Meeting of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, on the subject of “What Does Peace & Stability Mean in 21st Century?”
Within the scheduled activities in New York, President Pendarovski is planned to have meetings with Natalia Kanem, the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) including representatives from the diaspora.
Also, Pendarovski will be meeting with Macedonia 2025’s representatives as well as the American- Jewish Committee in New York.
