The NGO sector called upon the Government to change the decision for the drastic cut of the financial support for civic organisations, announced in the Official Gazette on the 9th of April 2020, where the financial aid, depending of the institution, is either cancelled or is drastically decreased.
“The decision was adopted in a nontransparent way, without any consultations with the civic organizations and the general public which illuminates the unprincipled relation of the government towards the civic society during this period of crisis. Approximately 525.000 necessary support has been cut, an act by which the government is ousting the civic society as a relevant partner in dealing with the crisis caused by the Covid-19 epidemic” states the joint press release by 73 civic organizations, networks and platforms.
The press release also states that from the epidemic’s very start they mobilized quickly and efficiently and they put all of their resources on disposal and through several activities they provided direct and humanitarian aid for the most vulnerable citizens.
