The Ministry of Interior denies the claims by the Greek media as untrue, that during yesterday’s intervention to prevent illegal migrants entering the country at quota 59, Macedonian security forces entered Greek territory. This is the official position from the MOI in relation to these allegations, and told “Meta”:
“The fence on the border is situated five meters inside the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, so these statements that police officers had illegally entered Greek territory while preventing migrants entering Macedonia are simply untrue”, state the MOI.
They again emphasized that during yesterday’s incidents there was no reaction from the Greek police, nor were they notified that there were tensions and unrest at the border.
