MOI confirms: Employees at the Faculty of Economics are suspected of bribery

The department responsible for dealing with organized crime at the Ministry of Interior (MOI) in coordination with the Public Prosecution Office, today conducted a police operation at the Faculty of Economics at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius (UKIM), the MOI confirmed for “Meta”.

“The department which handles serious and organized crime took the appropriate measures in coordination with the Public Prosecution’s Office at UKIM, for what is suspected to be ,abuse of power and authority, the receiving and giving of bribes, committed by employees at the Faculty of Economics”, said the Ministry of Interior.

They would not reveal the number of suspects and which suspects are suspected of what criminal offenses, and would not answer whether more arrests were likely. However, more details are expected to be announced tomorrow.

According to unconfirmed sources, during the police operation code-name “Erasmus” police arrested university professor and former dean of the Faculty of Economics, Bobek Shuklev. Meanwhile, police are reportedly searching for seven more suspects, some of whom may be colleagues of Professor Shuklev.

In other parts of the media, it is being reported without official confirmation that one of the suspects is a member of the prestigious Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU).
