The politicians should deepen the friendly relations that exist between the citizens of Serbia and Macedonia, and not to derail its friendship, as was reacted by the Ministry of foreign affairs of Macedonia, after a statement given by the chief of Serbian diplomacy Ivica Dachikj. He stated that official Belgrade has done a historical mistake when it recognized Macedonia under its constitutional name because Macedonia recognized Kosovo and supported its membership in UNESCO.
“Between Serbia and Macedonia, exist very close and deep friendly relations. It is not a coincidence that the citizens of both countries have positive feelings and opinions about their neighbors on the other side. The politicians should only deepen these historical relations. If that is not possible, then they should be responsible at least not to ruin the friendship that exists between Macedonia and Serbia, both ways. This should also be valid even in conditions when it is obvious that the atmosphere is heating up for the forthcoming voting for the entrance of Kosovo into UNESCO, as was said by MFA.
Dachikj gave an interview for the Serbian news agency “Beta” where he said that Belgrade in its bilateral relations with Skopje will still be using Macedonia’s constitutional name, but that it will multilaterally be using the name that EU and UN are using – BJRM.
At this New Year’s concert for the “Beta” agency Dachikj said that Serbia will be leading a policy of reciprocity, but that shouldn’t mean that it will take an action bilaterally against those countries. He also said that it is not a revenge but a responsible state and national politics.
