Slovakian Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajcak, in an interview with Meta, said that there aren’t any guarantees that the Przhino Agreement will be implemented. He added that anything that is opposite from full implementation is equal to a gamble with the country’s European perspective.
- Which mechanisms guarantee that the Przhino Agreement will be carried out and respected?
– You cannot be certain that the Agreement will be implemented. The parties that signed it must ensure that they will implement it and the Agreement is quite specific about what needs to be done and when. What we would like to see is implementation, starting with the first step, as noted in the document. This is an agreement that must be implemented in the name of the European future of your country. This cannot be an agreement that one of the sides will use against the other, because in that instance, it will fail. We are hoping, and we made that clear along with Commissioner Hahn, that we are expecting a full implementation of this Agreement in good faith and good will, for the wellbeing of all people in your country.
- Are you certain that your message has been understood?
– Well, I am certain that the message has been sent out and I am hoping that it was understood clearly. What is more important is that the message will be understood by all sides- political leaders and parties alike, in your country.
- And what if they don’t respect it?
– Then they need to understand that they are playing with the European perspective of the people. You deserve a European perspective. As you see, the rest of the region is advancing. I think this should alarm all those who are responsible for the perspective and for the future of your country.
