The latest data from the report of the National Bank indicate the decline of economic indicators in many important segments such as investment, industrial production, deficit in foreign trade.
The business sector is awaiting the conclusion of the political crisis and, if the situation lasts, it will continue to decline.
All activities have been postponed for better times, there is tactfulness in terms of capital management.
– The political crisis is affecting the ethical conduct of business and the responsibility of the heads of companies. They are tactful and they expect something special to happen, no matter what the outcome, if there will be elections or not – stated Mile Boshkov of the Confederation of Employers for META.
According to him, there is a decrease in the area of servicing current liabilities, i.e. fewer debts are settled.
– Although business should not be dependent on politics, it was proved that it is. All are restrained and in anticipation. It is also trade secret whether there is a reduction in terms of state procurement and construction activities which, in some way, boosted the economy. Congestion in these segments is affecting the performance of companies and it affects the general consumption. It is a chain in which everything is connected – Boshkov added.
Those companies that have obligations towards banks and work according to a financial plan and program are not giving up activities and behave according to the contracts, although with some reserve.
Boshkov added that every company responds differently depending on their own perception, but what we have learned from this crisis is that, in the future, business should not be too dependent on public procurement and state. It should be separate and be interested in domestic and foreign market.
According to businessman Trifun Kostovski, foreign investments cannot be those which would develop the economy. According to him, if it was so, highly developed economies would have relied on them, rather than developing the national economy and the real sector.
– Foreign investments are nomadic, they move where they have benefits. The developed countries do not allow privileged production, which destroys the national economy. Development of infrastructure and strong concentration is needed, because it opens room for development of the national economy – says Kostovski.
He added that Macedonian companies, unlike those in the free economic zones, have no wind in the back that will push them to develop.
– Every coming of foreign investor means taking the bread of some of our citizens, to be given to him as help. Particularly because the companies in the free economic zones have slave relationships and highly qualified staff is underpaid. Each financial hole will be covered by the state, but the loss of human staff is an evil that can happen to a state. The biggest capital of a country and company is man – says Kostovski.
