Janeva asked for 14 Prosecutors, and only got seven

-

The Council of Public Prosecutors, after three hours of debate, today decided approve only half of Katica Janeva’s team, instead of the proposed 14. So far only seven assistant prosecutors have been approved.

Of the proposed candidates not one from the Skopje Prosecutor’s Office has been accepted.

After the decision was made by the Council of Public Prosecutors, Ms Janeva learnt of the news from Journalists, and said she does not agree with decision and announced that she is behind her team of 14 Public Prosecutors, and if necessary she will do everything she can every day for the Council to change its decision.

“With today’s decision, the Council of Public Prosecutors has violated the Law on Special Prosecution, and therefore have violated the Przhino Agreement. I stand behind my team of prosecutors and will fight to the end to see all involved in this work”, said Ms Janeva.

The President of the Council, Petar Anevski, did not specify exactly which criteria the decision was based on and why only 7 of Janeva’s team were chosen instead of the 14 prosecutors. He said it was done taking into account the number of cases, and their number had been 7 despite Ms Jaenva asking for more. Also Mr Anevski said that their decision is not necessarily final and if necessary, the number of prosecutors will be increased.
