Ivanov addressed the conference in Geneva

-

President Gjogje Ivanov today in Geneva, Switzerland, addressed the high level segment of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, which opened its 28th session.

– Human history is a great story about the conflict between justice and power. On the one side are reason and conscience, while brute force and selfish interests are on the opposite. The first clearly tell us that all men are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Second ignore and violate the inherent and inalienable human rights and freedoms. While man himself is a goal for the first, for the second man is the only means to meet some other selfish goals. Despite all the challenges, people persist in the struggle for human rights. As 70 years ago, the fulfillment of this noble mission was entrusted to the United Nations, 10 years ago the Human Rights Council was created as a central body in the system of Human Rights of the United Nations. What led people to persist on this arduous time was the firm confidence that in the world there is nothing so valuable as man, that the most important feature of human nature is freedom understood as responsibility and capacity to make good decisions for themselves and others, for this and future generations. Human rights are born of caring for people. But the goal has not been reached – said Ivanov.
