It is not serious to think that there will be new elections in 2018, because Macedonia is waiting for the processes for the Euro-Atlantic integration and reforms which need to be implemented, said Parliament Speaker, Talat Xhaferi.
He expressed hope, that MPs from VMRO-DPMNE will attend the session on January 9th, which will be the first in the new year, and pointed out that the political crisis ended six months ago. According to Xhaferi, the leaving of Government by the Alliance of Albanians will not cause any waves to the parliamentary majority, and the quorum in Parliament does not depend on it.
“I am sure that there will be a majority in 2018, all political parties will participate in Parliament, which will lead to a positive report from the European Commission in April and a date for starting pre-accession negotiations”, Xhaferi said.
According to the Parliament Speaker, the achievement of the quorum in Parliament is the duty of the coordinators of the parliamentary groups, but it also depends on the individual behavior of the MP.
