Thousands of people went to the march in honor of Nemtsov

Instead of the opposition protest rally, a protest march in memory of murdered Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, that involved thousands of people, was organized.

Several thousand people gathered on the Slavjansk Square in downtown Moscow, from where they directed to the bridge on which Nemtsov was killed two days ago.

The row of people was a few hundred meters long, and the march took place in silence, without shouting or slogans.
Participants in the march carried placards with inscriptions “He fought to free Russia”, “He fought for the future of Russia,” and the key message of the march “Heroes do not die and those bullets are directed to each of us.”

Representatives of the opposition called off today’s protest, which was supposed to occur in the southeast of Moscow. One of the organizers of the event was the now slain Nemtsov.

March in memory of Nemtsov was also held in St. Petersburg.
