Cuban leader Fidel Castro appeared on national television with a statement and gave cautious support to the warming of relations with the United States.
“Any solution reached through negotiations between the United States and every nation in Latin America should be treated in accordance with international norms and principles. I don’t believe the United States, nor have I spoken to them,” reads the statement.
