EU surprised by the statements of Erdogan

-

Federica Mogherini, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the European Union, at today’s press conference announced that she was very surprised by the statements of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. She said that when she was in Turkey last week, she had a very constructive discussion with him regarding the improvement of the relations between the European Union and Turkey.

– I would like to take the opportunity to express all of my, and I think of all ministers present, personal and emotional sympathy to all the people involved in this very shocking episode – said Mogherini.

On Sunday, Turkish anti-terrorist police carried out raids the 13 cities and arrested at least 27 people, mostly journalists. It was condemned by the European Union, to which Erdogan reacted fiercely.

– The European Union shouldn’t intervene in the steps taken by the Turkish security forces within the rule of law against the elements that threaten our national security. It needs to mind its own business – said Erdogan.
