During the first quarter of this year, all payments in North Macedonia by legal entities and private individuals via credit transfers and payment cards have increased by 15.2% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the value of performed transactions increased by 5.8%, announced the National Bank (NBRM).
According to the NBRM, in March the citizens used their payment cards more extensively for online purchases, reaching a high annual growth of 99% while simultaneously a fall od 2.5% in the number of transactions by legal entities was evidenced.
The number of mobile phone payments in March increased by 45.5% compared to the same month last yea, rwhich is relatively close to the annual growth accomplished during the first quarter in the previous year – 45.9%. Concerning the citizens, one out of four electronic credit transfers was initiated through a mobile phone, while the remaining three electronic credit transfers were conducted through the use of a computer.
