Brussels has not confirmed nor denied Hahn’s visit to Macedonia

-

The European Commission has still not confirmed whether EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn will visit Macedonia. Brussels pointed out that the working agendas for all Commissioners for the upcoming working week are published on Friday.

Yesterday, “Telma” television, citing diplomatic sources, reported that Hahn will be visiting Macedonia for a few hours next Tuesday, to speed up the process of resolving the political crisis and to convince President Gjorge Ivanov to reconsider his decision and award the mandate to the leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev, to form a government.

However, it is uncertain whether Hahn will meet Ivanov, as the President after visiting Azerbaijan will then visit Hungary, and on March the 24th, he will be visiting Australia.

Today, Hahn is in Sarajevo, where he will be participating in the Regional Cooperation Summit for the Western Balkans, as well as the Macedonian interim Prime Minister, Emil Dimitriev. It is expected, from the sidelines of the Summit, that Hahn will have a bilateral meeting with Dimitriev, where they are expected to discuss the political crisis and a solution.

The meeting will be attended by the Prime Ministers of Albania, Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro, as well as Italian Foreign Minister, Angelino Alfano.
