Polls in Greece suggest a narrow race for Parliament

-

Public opinion polling in Greece, taken three weeks before the early elections, show the race for Government will be very narrow and that the winner is not going to enjoy majority in parliament, which is going to be even more divided than the current one.

Results from the six polls that were released over the weekend, show that the leftist SYRIZA is ahead of the Nea Demokratia conservatives.

SYRIZA’s lead is between one and 3.1 percent; all of the polls have a margin of error of 3 percent.

In polls taken in July, Alexis Tsipras had a double digit lead, before opponents within the party split to show their disapproval of the new deal with Greece’s creditors.

Four of the six polls show that eight parties will enter parliament, while two polls show that there will be eight parties, of which seven are part of the current arrangement of the Greek legislative house.
