All amendments for the Law on Languages have now been translated

All amendments submitted for the Law on Languages have now been translated, reported the Office of Parliamentary Speaker, Talat Xhaferi.

They reported that the amendments to the Law on Languages have now been archived, processed and posted to the e-parliament, and that the Translation Department had translated all submitted amendments.

“The Parliament Speaker’s Office acted within its jurisdiction, and did so until the completion of the process. Given the large number of amendments, they still need to be reviewed and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Rules and Regulations of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, after which the Law on Languages will be then be reviewed, “stated Xhaferi’s office.

The opposition VMRO-DPMNE, submitted over 35,000 amendments to the Law on Languages, after the President of the country, Gjorge Ivanov refused to sign it and returned the Law for a third reading in Parliament with a series of comments and remarks.

After the amendments, Parliament were meant to start discussing the Law last week, however, the point was removed from the agenda because the amendments had not been translated.
