A taxi driver from Prilep, who did not know he was transporting Albanian nationals illegally across the border, received a verdict at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in connection with the confiscation of his “Mercedes” vehicle.
The state has to return him his vehicle within three months from the date of the verdict which the court confiscated eight years ago because of a violation of Article 1 of Protocol 1 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
If there are no other damages, the state must compensate the driver with 10,000 euros in the same period of three months, the taxi driver also needs to be paid EUR 3,000 for non-pecuniary damage and legal costs.
