115 persons were employed and 12 opened their own business through projects from USAID’s internship for employment of persons with disabilities, which has been functioning since August 2012.
“So far, the project has trained 417 people on the topic of job search strategies for people with disabilities, 49 people with disabilities successfully completed training for entrepreneurship and 37 people attended the training to develop creative skills for people with disabilities. On the other hand, 259 officials visited training by mentors with the guidance of persons with disabilities”, said a statement from USAID.
Also, 73 people have undertaken internships in various private companies, public institutions and NGO’s.
This project works to build the capacity for people with disabilities to easily perform on the job market, but also with companies and public institutions to facilitate acceptance and adaptation for these individuals in the workplace.
