LDP: Gruevski should release a report on the false investment “boom”

Skopje, 24 January, 2017 - 13:20 (META)

“Gruevski lies have come to light, that Macedonia is an excellent business destination, with great economic potential and “the scene for the global business community”. Therefore we urge Gruevski and his investment “dream team” to release a report to the Macedonian people regarding the unrealized ‘investment boom’, “said the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) yesterday, in reaction to the research project “Prisma” published by BIRN, which showed that foreign investment is actually seven times smaller than the amounts announced by VMRO-DPMNE.

“Independent journalistic studies have exposed and confirmed that the populism of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party, which for 10 years, led by Nikola Gruevski, has lied and misled the people with the “boom” of foreign investments and new jobs. On the contrary, the government has spent at least 200 million euros to attract foreign capital. In the past 10 years, 20 million euros from the budget of the Republic of Macedonia, every year are allocated to the Agency for Foreign Investments and the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones. Given that certain foreign investments are allocated funds from other institutions, such as the health fund, pension insurance, municipalities, public enterprises and others, it clearly shows that VMRO-DPMNE’s alleged economic revival will cost Macedonia more than the country will ever receive in return”, responded the LDP.
