The Special Prosecutor’s Office will not comment on the statement made by the leader of the VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski, who yesterday, at the celebration of the party’s 26th birthday, the former PM stated that the SPO has lost its credibility, that they work in an unprofessional manner and that they work directly underneath the SDSM.
“As we have said on numerous occasions, this Prosecutor’s Office does not comment on political statements”, was the brief answer from Katica Janeva’s Office, when they were asked to comment on Gruevski’s statement.
The leader of the VMRO-DPMNE said that one of newest strategies by the SPO is to open official investigations, requesting pre-trail detention measures and other requests for members and officials of the party, to overload the court with work, therefore putting pressure on the court.
“Not knowing how to push the court further, with motivation from the party, the leadership in the SPO has begun to open investigations on everything and anything, empty investigations without elementary material evidence. This is one of the SPO’s new strategies. Their aim is not only to compromise and publicly shame indicted politicians saying they are guilty, the fact here is they are overloading the court with criminal charges, and also they are willing to lead the case to the court itself, only to find that their empty charges have been rejected by the court, over and over again. This again compromises the court even if most of their requests are rejected, however, by increasing the workload and putting pressure on the court they believe the court will start accepting investigations, and prosecute cases without evidence”, said Gruevski.
