Orav: Crisis in Macedonia has lasted for too long

-

European Ambassador Aivo Orav at today’s traditional meeting for the occasion of Europe Day with the Ambassadors from other EU member states, current and former Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, said that the crisis in Macedonia has lasted too long, and that serious and tough decisions need to be made.

“Last month we saw the tip of the iceberg when the decision was made to pardon. There is no time to waste. Tough and serious decisions need to be made in the next few days by those responsible for the situation so that together we can move forward. The EU is here if you need our help. We from the EU hope very much that we can overcome this crisis and that we can start with negotiations with you as soon as possible”, said Orav.

Deputy Prime Minister Arber Ademi said that it is a fact that Macedonia have been implementing the EU agenda for the longest out of all the countries in the region, and the country can not hide that is it is facing the most complex crisis which is unsustainable.

Dutch Ambassador Willem Wouter Plomp expressed hope that leaders will find the wisdom and courage to reach an agreement, and that the efforts of the international community will contribute to finding a solution.

US Ambassador Jess Baily said that they remain in contact with all political parties.
