“Most”: The administration are being pressured to vote and attend party rallies

From October 15 to November 20, the civil association “Most”, which monitors the pre-election period has noticed violations of the separation between state and party, pressure on the public sector, pressure to vote and the misuse of public resources.

“During this period we noticed officials and public employees attending party events. There has been 43 cases in 26 municipalities. There are 41 cases of pressure on public employees to attend rallies of the ruling party. In seven cases in five municipalities, pressure has been put on people to vote or secure voters for the ruling party, and in seven cases in six municipalities we have noticed the use of official vehicles for party purposes”, says the Director of “Most”, Darko Aleksov.

“Most” say these cases contain indications that crimes have been committed and, if proven, in accordance with the Criminal Code, it is punishable with a prison sentence of six months to one year.

The Citizens’ Association will submit this evidence to the Commission for Monitoring Electoral Irregularities, which was formed by the Public Prosecution of the Republic of Macedonia.

“Most” has 80 long-term observers in the field and so far, has received 2,025 reports.
