The British Ambassador in Macedonia, Charles Garrett during today’s meeting with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev has handed over the invitation from the British Prime Minister, Teresa May to attend the Western Balkans summit, that will take place in London in July next year, as part of the Berlin process, announced the government’s press service.

In the invitation, May states that the goal of the summit in London is to support the Western Balkans countries as part of the regional cooperation and the good neighborly relations, efforts that were agreed upon at the summit in Trieste in June this year.

The focus of the summit in London shall be put to the interconnection between the states, the energetics, digitalization and the entrepreneurship, and in the domain of security, the fight against corruption, organized crime, human trafficking, terrorism, and violent extremism.

During the meeting with Garrett, Prime Minister Zaev stressed that Macedonia will actively contribute to all of these important issues that will be discussed at the summit.

During the meeting, Zaev and Garrett also spoke about the importance of the necessary inner reformatory processes especially in the part of the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law.
