Ivanov to Hahn: The EU did not condemn interference by neighbouring countries in the internal affairs of Macedonia

Today, Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, met with with EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn.

Ivanov’s cabinet said that at the meeting, the necessity of the swift formation of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia was emphasized, because only fully functional state institutions will be prepared to deal with everyone.

Regarding the current situation, Ivanov expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of public opposition to the interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Macedonia by some of the neighbouring countries.

At the meeting between the Macedonian President and Hahn, Ivanov reiterated that he expects the new government to have two key priorities: protection of state interests of the Republic of Macedonia, which means preserving and strengthening the unitary character of the state system and reforms in the subjects of the national security system.

Yesterday, Hahn met with representatives from political parties and attended the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy from the Western Balkans in Skopje.
