Ivanov – Nishani: Both countries have a common future

Presidents of Macedonia and Albania, Gjorgje Ivanov and Bujar Nishani, agreed that the two countries have a common future. After today’s meeting in Tirana, they agreed that more intensive economic cooperation is required, and by fostering good neighborly relations and mutual trust, European future and a better standard of citizens, as well as the capacity for joint response to current challenges, would be secured. Ivanov said that Macedonia and Albania are united by the future and that they share a common goal – to be part of the European Union.
Nishani reiterated support for Macedonia’s membership to NATO, as it is in the interest of peace, security and stability in the region. According to him, Albania gladly expected finding compromise and resolving the name dispute because it would also unblock Macedonia’s membership to NATO.
