The appointment of a special prosecutor is an important element for the normalization of the political situation in Macedonia, but it is not the end of the story, said on Thursday in Brussels the EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, the day before his visit to Skopje.
Commissioner Hahn welcomed the appointment of the Special Prosecutor, but said that the European Commission will continue to monitor the situation in Macedonia.
“I appreciate and welcome the fact that, with our mediation, political parties in Macedonia succeeded to appoint a Special Prosecutor and pass the law for her to function properly. The appointment of the prosecutor is an important element for the normalization of the political situation in the country, so this is a great achievement. I am happy, but this is not the end of the story and we will be “keeping an eye” on the country’s developments”, said Commissioner Hahn.
