By the end of the week, field-tests will begin on the issue of questionable voters on the electoral roll. A total of 100,436 entries (first names, surnames and addresses) will be checked by a force of 374 authorized field-investigators who will conduct interviews. The work of the field-investigators will be managed under the supervision of various heads of regional offices of the SEC. Field-tests will start on at 8.30 am and will cease at 19.00 pm.
The entire process is open to observation by representatives of the country’s four largest political parties. As explained by the SEC, the only ones who can answer questions from field-investigators are persons whose identity is in question or under investigation.
As explained by the SEC, in cases where field-investigators cannot locate person(s) being sought, the investigator will pay a return visit the following day. Should the person(s) being sought have not been found during this time, the field-investigator will leave a written request with a family member or neighbour stating that the person(s) must attend a SEC office within the following 3 days.
