Arberi road has a goal to create an economic corridor with Macedonia

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, announced today in Peshkopea that at the joint session of the governments of Macedonia and Albania, that will take place in Pogradec, he is going to ask the Macedonian government to continue the “Arberi” road on its territory.

Rama announced that the building of the Arberi road with a length of 72 km will start next year, and the whole process will last for 44 months and will cost 33,6 billion. he also said that with this road the distance between Tirana and Debar will be shortened by 100 km.

-At the meeting with the Macedonian Prime Minister that occurred in October, it was agreed that a joint government session will take place in Pogradec when we shall decide that it is necessary for the Macedonian side to finish the Arberi road on its side. We shall shorten the distance between Debar and Tirana. It shall be a shorter distance that will solve a major problem, said Rama.

According to the Albanian Prime Minister, Arberi will not only be connecting one area to another, but it will provide a strategic development for the economy, employment and tourism.

-The Arberi road has a goal to create an economic corridor with Macedonia, through Debar and to make the Drach port more approachable, stressed Rama.
