MEP Richard Howitt and EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn received two different statements about the readiness and the condition of the State Election Commission and upcoming early elections scheduled for April 24.
While working out which one of the statements is accurate and did the President of the SEC Alexander Cicakovski send two different opinions to the two European officials, we tried to reach him on the telephone. He briefly answered: “I don’t talk to journalists.”
After yesterday’s marathon meeting between the leaders of the four major political parties, signatories to the Przhino Agreement with Commissioner Hahn and representatives of the International Community, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski told reporters in a statement that Hahn had told them that he was informed by the Chairman of the SEC, that there are no obstacles for elections to be held on April 24.
“Commissioner Hahn clearly told us that the President of the SEC informed him that there are no obstacles to hold back the elections scheduled for April 24”, said Prime Minister Gruevski yesterday .
