The leader of DUI, Ali Ahmeti, at the meeting with the British Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, Sir Alan Duncan, among other things, informed the British diplomat of today’s meeting of the Central Presidency of the party.

Ahmeti, as announced by the party, said that at the meeting they will discuss the possibilities and options for the party, and considering the election results, ” this includes the possibility that DUI might remain in the opposition.”

The British diplomat expressed Britain’s support for a stable and prosperous Macedonia. Sir Duncan said that resolving the situation is in the hands of the political parties in the country.

“Ahmeti noted that in reaching the decision, they will take into consideration the will of DUI and Albanian voters and the expectations of the citizens and the international community. The country is facing many challenges and DUI will play a constructive role”, said Ahmeti, adding that the elections in the country were democratic and credible and produced a narrow vote and a very challenging result for the political parties.

The leader of DUI said that the completion of the Ohrid Agreement, the rule of law, as well as Euro-Atlantic integration are conditions for stability and security in the country and he requested support from London for Macedonia’s membership in NATO.
