After DUI leader Ali Ahmeti met with EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn, he said he was optimistic and that there is no need to delay elections.
“We are making a huge effort to reach a final decision because the country expects these very significant issues. I do not think the date is the main problem, but a few technical issues. I think we are very close to a solution where all parties would be content, but we will see later”, Ahmeti said after the meeting.
When asked by the media on his thoughts on whether there is a possibility for elections to be postponed for one or two months, Ahmeti stressed that he does not consider that there is room for it.
DPA leader Menduh Thaci, before the meeting also stated that they have not changed their position and elections should not be postponed.
