VMRO-DPMNE: Five percent of the parliamentary personnel is taken into detention

-

The procedures that are carried out against the defenders of the Constitution are illegal and are legally unfounded, and the persons taken into detention are victims of a political persecution, says the VMRO-DPMNE’s press release.

“Republic of Macedonia is not a democratic country. At the moment, in Macedonia, five percent of the complete parliamentary personnel, i.e. 12 % of the opposition is taken into detention. These MPs are under a direct threat with a made-up charge for terrorism. This is an effort to shut down any critical opinion and an attempt to block the controlling function of the legislature by using fear” said the press release.

VMRO-DPMNE reminds that the “Ombudsman reacted against the police brutality and the disrespect of the law for detention of the defenders of the Constitution.”

“The Basic Public Prosecution and the Court are silent about these shameful acts. The Court should be a guarantee of the lawfulness of the procedures and is obliged to rise above the pressure. Macedonia needs the rule of law and a national reconciliation and not a genesis of hatred by misusing the institutions” said the press release.
