The session for constitutional changes will continue at 12 o’clock and the securing a two-third majority is uncertain

-

The MPs will continue today at 12 o’clock the discussion about the necessity of constitutional amendments that have come out of the Prespa Agreement, between Macedonia and Greece. There is a possibility that the discussion will be stopped and the MPs will cast their votes, after the opposition MPs have canceled the discussion.

What remains uncertain is whether the two-third majority will be secured at the parliament, which is necessary to commence the constitutional amendments.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said yesterday that he believes in miracles and he has called upon VMRO-DPMNE’s MPs to vote in favor of.

-I still have hope that the parliament with gather strength and that the MPs will dare and be encouraged because after all, they represent the people, and then they represent their political parties. I hope they will rise to the historical responsibility i.e. this not-to-be-missed chance for Macedonia. They should finally give their approval for confirming the necessity of opening constitutional amendments – said Zaev.

VMRO-DPMNE’s MP group stated that their MPs will not support any changes to the Constitution in order to change the country’s constitutional name.

If the proposal for commencing the constitutional changes doesn’t pass at the Parliament, that would signal the call for snap elections.
