,k k k k k k k ‘/4With 61 votes in “favor” and one abstention, the Parliament ratified the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborly Relations and Cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria. Independent MP Ferid Muhić refrained from adding anything to what he had announced before the vote that he would vote in abstention.

Before voting at today’s 30th session, MPs Nikita Korubin, Artan Grubi and Ferid Muhić spoke. MPs from VMRO-DPMNE, as well as those from Besa, do not currently attend sessions.

Speaking on behalf of the proposer, the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov urged MPs to vote for the ratification of the Treaty because, he said, “it is necessary to influence the future and create friends”.

“Today we will do an important thing if you support ratification. In countries in our region, who are burdened with history, and history is very important, but we cannot act on it, we can only act for the future. It is good that both countries decided to get out of the safety of their trenches. It is nice to treat our neighbors as equals, and to create friends”, said Dimitrov.

The Macedonian Foreign Minister expressed regret that the opposition MPs were not in the parliamentary hall and explained that they should be present at the voting, because during VMRO-DPMNE’S reign, it led the other party to look for certain things.
