Government proposed Ljubomir Joveski to be appointed the new State Public Prosecutor

-

At today’s session, the government decided to propose to Parliament that Ljobomir Joveski be appointed as State Public Prosecutor, and is also a member of the Council of Public Prosecutors, stated the government’s press service.

“The Government of the Republic of Macedonia made this decision, apart from Ljubomir Joveski’s highly professional biography, but on the basis of the positive opinion of the Council of Public Prosecutors,” reads the statement.

A total of 23 candidates applied for the publicly advertised appointment for Public Prosecutor that was announced by Parliament. The Council of Public Prosecutors reviewed their candidacies last week and submitted their opinion to the Government.

Parliament, after receiving the proposal from the Government, will now have to schedule a session for the appointment of the new Public Prosecutor, or otherwise known as Attorney General.

Parliament decides on the appointment and dismissal of a State Public Prosecutor with a simple majority vote, which is 61 votes.

On August the 17th, this year, after a proposal by the Government, Parliament dismissed Marko Zvrlevski from this position.
