Trials May be Scheduled in the Next 8 Days for the Indictments by the SPO, says Janeva

-

The Court over the next 8 eight days, may schedule a hearing for both proposed indictments submitted yesterday by the SPO, said Special Public Prosecutor, Katica Janeva.

“They are the subject of fast-track proceedings, and the deadline for the scheduling is eight days. The court may immediately schedule a hearing within eight days, whenever, we are ready for trial”, said today the Special Public Prosecutor, Katica Janeva.

The Criminal Court have confirmed they have received the indictments from the SPO and that they should be distributed to the judges that will proceed with the cases.

Yesterday, the Special Public Prosecution’s Office submitted its first two indictments. As explained by Special Prosecutor Fatime Fetai, one indictment concerns the destruction of documents related to the illegal wire-tapping equipment, while the other indictment is related to violence outside the Municipality of the Centre, which occurred in June, 2013.

For the destruction of documents, seven employees  from the fifth administration of the Interior Ministry have been charged. In the indictment concerning the violence outside the Municipality of the Centre, the SPO have charged 14 people, five of whom are accused of instigating unrest and the other nine are accused for being the direct perpetrators of the violence.

Prosecutors from the SPO yesterday, citing the presumption of innocence, refused to divulge the identity of any of the suspects. However, regarding the intercepted conversations which the SDSM party announced last year, it is certain that the prime suspects regarding the violence in the Centre are the former Prime Minister and current leader of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski, followed by the former Minister of Transport and Communications, Mile Janakieski.
