MPs voted on amendments to the Law on Higher Education

MPs who almost less than a month in the Assembly discussed that the Law on Higher Education is good and that this law was missing and had to be adopted for the higher education today raised their hands and voted for the postponement of the application of certain provisions of the law, saying it lacked debate.

– I want to express my support for the postponement of the law. Government heard all the debates and public discussions. We must not toy with young people, they don’t belong on the streets where they are manipulated, but in the lecture halls to learn. This is an opportunity for all relevant parties to engage in constructive proposals that will be grounded in higher education. I expect that in the future everyone would give constructive opinions and recommendations on the law – said MP Olga Najdenovska.

MP Solza Grcheva added that the Government itself admitted that the law is not good and for that reason, some provisions are delayed.

– For days, we discussed whether the laws are good or not, but, in the end, the confirmation came from the government. I do not understand how you can defend the law both then and now. Have a little courtesy and at least do not comment – said Grcheva.

77 MPs voted for the law. The amendments in the law provide to delay the implementation of the state exam for students and professors’ obligation to publish scientific papers in journals with impact factor.

On the session, the Law on amendments to contributions for mandatory social insurance was adopted in a short procedure, as well as other laws.
