Topic for discussion on the budget regarding citizen’s compensation for earthquakes

At today’s Commission’s discussion regarding the budget revision, the MPs argued the most about compensation for the citizens of Ohrid, Resen and Struga for the damage caused by earthquakes. VMRO-DPMNE’s MPs presented an amendment requesting two million euros for this purpose, but it was rejected.

VMRO-DPMNE’MP Antonio Milososki said that if there was political will, the new Government with the revision could allocate two million euros.

“This will help citizens repairing the damage caused by this natural disaster. Now you are defensive about the budget, i.e. the budget revision, or, you are defending the interest of Ohrid’s citizens who suffered damage”, Milososki added.

VMRO-DPMNE’MPs called for another amendment and asked for one million euros to compensate tourism workers due to the losses in tourism.

Minister of Finance Dragan Tevdovski stressed that with the budget revision, there was an item that refers to natural disasters, and IPA funds were intended for tourism workers.
